Female bosses may be tougher on attractive sisterly job applicants

BY NOW you may or may not have heard about a 41-year-old woman called Samantha Brick who became something of an internet sensation this week.

If you haven’t then you’ve missed out on a few laughs in recent days, but also escaped a deeply unpleasant and unnecessary visceral response to her from people who should really know better. And there have also been some unexpected insights into other facets of human behaviour.

Earlier this week Brick had an article published in a British tabloid newspaper in which she bemoaned the apparent downsides of “being beautiful”. The article went under the headline: ‘There are downsides to looking this pretty’: Why women hate me for being beautiful.”
