Forgotten medal

Dan Buckley’s recent article (Irish Examiner, Mar 6) omitted the 1924 Olympic Bronze Medal won by TC Murray who was born in New St, Macroom on Jan 17, 1873.

Forgotten medal

The medal was awarded in the literary competition for his play Birthright, eligible for the competition because of its reference to hurling.

The award is commemorated in a plaque on the family home in New Street.
