Wrong way to fight drugs

While regurgitating old ideas, Matt Cooper (Opinion, Feb 17) at least raises an issue before an Irish public that is, for the most part, living in the stone age when it comes to illegal drugs in Ireland, and our present approach to solving the problems with our so-called “war on drugs.”

As a student of the issue of the failure of our present approach to the illegal drug problem for 38 years, please permit me to throw out the following premise:

There is not one valid argument that can be presented in support of our present approach to illegal drugs in this country. Not one.
