Vote of no confidence in the Government

Why are we hiring more public servants under contract to do the work the Government is paid to do and at the same time sacking teachers, SNEs and nurses?

On top of that, at local level we pay country councils for a bin service and they sell it off to a private company for an undisclosed amount to pay themselves.

Meanwhile, mortgage holders are struggling in huge numbers with pathetic responses from government and a “not invented here” attitude to the McGrath bill that has real solutions. It’s a credit to Michael McGrath and has been ready to go since last July.

Against this backdrop the Government is hiring advisers on top of advisers to do the work of the public service and Eamon Gilmore says paying extra to party leaders is normal. These are not normal times and Mr Gilmore’s attitude shows how out of touch Labour leadership actually is.

Our money is going on paying people to do what others are paid to do, while the Government pay themselves bonuses and demand more from those who haven’t got it!

Let’s change the Constitution to get rid of governments by “no confidence” referenda.
