Just who will benefit from Arab Spring?

As a person who has lived and worked in various countries, including Israel, Egypt, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan to mention but a few (and am currently in contact with people in Egypt and Syria), I would like to offer some comments on the so called Arab Spring.

1) Is the present unrest directed at greater democracy for all residents, or to further the interests of Muslim fundamentalism?

2) Many of the countries criticising the present leadership in Syria are countries where basic/religious rights are denied.

3) International media indicate many fighting against the present Syrian regime come from outside Syria, including at least one who claims to have lived in Ireland for many years and not so long ago appeared on national television.

Anyone who has lived in a fundamentalist state will understand the concerns of minorities in those countries.
