Minister Gilmore claims the €800,000 annual costs of keeping the Vatican Embassy open were not justifiable.

Our national overseas aid programme to Vietnam (Hanoi) is €11m each year for the next three years. For what reason this state needs our aid, nobody here seems to know. Is it not possible to reduce this by €1m per annum so that this could then be used to maintain our full status with The Holy See?
