Is Appleby worth more than a teacher?

I won’t pass comment on Howlin’s naive surprise when receiving late notice of Appleby’s ‘intention’ to leave, other than to say that Appleby probably just wanted to see how much the Government valued him.

Appleby matters to fewer people than those who depend on exiting teachers, nurses and gardaí.

The least of these civil servants is senselessly elevated to being the greatest.
