Bond-holder cheques would end hospital trolley waits

LAST Wednesday (Jan 25), our health service decision-makers announced a new target.

They aim to have 95% of patients on trolleys in A&E departments for no longer than six hours.

My worst fear is to be trolleyed for the fourth time. I say to the policy spinners, “Give me death or give me dignity.” The plain people of Ireland have slowly bottled their anger. Now we demand action, not talk.

Stop wasting the people’s money. There was a reduction of €1bn in funding for the health services in 2011, yet Anglo bond-holders are being drip-fed with regular instalments of more than €1bn. That money could eliminate all hospital trolleys.
