Minimum alcohol price is smart and may save pubs
If we are to protect jobs in these industries, we need a common-sense approach like this to take place.
Are we going to leave supermarkets walk away with their back pockets full of cash, while letting our local pubs be destroyed?
This is more waffle coming from those bureaucrats in the EU, who tell us we can’t put a minimum price on anything to protect our industries. These are the very bureaucrats that I read recently in your very good paper, who have given themselves an increase in their salaries.
We are where we are today because of people’s greed in over-paying themselves and not giving a damn about anyone else. Such policies will drain monies from the countryside by closing down the smaller pubs and bringing all the wealth into the towns, as seen in third world countries.
We need to say ‘stop’ now and demand a level playing field for all. What’s good for the goose must now also apply to the gander.
