Car park should not be allowed at market

CORK CITY COUNCIL has done an amazing job on reinvigorating Cornmarket St (Coal Quay) in Cork city.

Car park should not be allowed at market

I think it looks beautiful with three different colours of stone creating a lovely wide street with a type of a plaza at the river end of it.

Why, then, are people allowed to use it as a car park on a Sunday? There is a market here on a Sunday and the traders need somewhere to park, perhaps the 15 or so legitimate parking spaces on this street could be reserved for them. It was 7.30pm when I was there and the market is well over by then.

I don’t think that this would be allowed happen in such a street in another European city, such as Berlin or Amsterdam.
