Cap public service pay

AS Enda Kenny and Eamon Gilmore contemplate a referendum on giving our European masters sweeping powers to condemn our nation to austerity budgets for generations to come, they should couple with this referendum a question to the electorate — ie “do you favour the capping of all public service pay at €100,000?”

Cap public service pay

The answer no doubt would be an overwhelming yes and should the Government threaten us by saying these educated well-paid public servants would leave the country, I say that would be their choice. Thousands are leaving our shores every week that don’t have a choice to earn €200,000. It’s highly paid and out-of-touch public servants that frame our budgets of misery and hardship. Maybe it’s time to let the people at the bottom decide what the people at the top are paid.
