The EU average

MARGARET Hickey (Letters, Dec 1) claims the Irish public sector is the “most indulged public service in the EU” and the “most cosseted public sector in Europe and the Western world”.

She has apparently not read the recent report by the IPA which, using IMF, World Bank, and EU statistics, found that the Irish public sector is average in the EU in terms of pay and size.
