IN response to Florence Craven (Letters, Nov 26) I’m sure the recent Fr Reynolds scandal was a relief not just to the Catholic Church, but to all people who value truth and justice.

Suffering in silence

I would remind Dr Craven that over 95% of child sexual abuse takes place at the hands of fathers, uncles, close relatives and family friends.

In our rush to judgement, this is overlooked, and these victims continue to suffer in silence.
