No Christmas for many families this year
During the great famine there were many atrocities inflicted on the people of Ireland — evictions from their homes, families with no food, children without proper clothing, poor healthcare, schooling and forced emigration.
For thousands of families this year there most certainly will be no Christmas, history certainly repeats.
All this could have and should have been avoided. But unfortunately when you have corrupt bankers and politicians the result is that Ireland is in turmoil with the last remaining taxpayers trying to keep this ship afloat.
The unemployed, elderly, mentally challenged, disabled and many, many more are now treated as beggars.
Yet the Government says these are desperate times and so require desperate measures. Should they not be setting an example and taking a pay cut?
Unfortunately most people are afraid to voice their opinion, for fear of recrimination. I wonder will it be suppressed, as we the “fighting” Irish stand poised on the brink of revolution.
