Fare off the rails

IN the current economic climate, I would expect that Irish Rail would be making every effort to accommodate customers.

Fare off the rails

The Enterprise service, as you may know, is the cross-border rail service operating between Dublin Connolly and Belfast Central stations. Return tickets are available from both Irish Rail and Translink NI Railways. A return ticket from Belfast Central with NI Railways will set you back £17.50 (€20.50). In contrast, a return ticket from Dublin purchased with Irish Rail will cost the customer a staggering €40. How can Irish Rail justify charging almost double for the exact same service?
