O’Leary should be finance minister

READING your recent item on Ryanair’s success in eliminating its debt convinces me that Michael O’Leary should be offered the post of finance minister.

Like him or loathe him, he is the most successful airline manager of all time.

He has a nose for waste and cost cutting, giving access to air travel to those of us who could not otherwise afford it. Ironically, the first target for his eagle eye would be the glaring extravagance of the executive jets available to government personnel.

It would not surprise me if Mr O’Leary managed to support essential government business through the use of a fleet of bicycles. I assume he would preserve the Taoiseach’s right to veto the use of a bike where walking was a realistic option.
