Electorate’s clip on the ear

IT seems to me that Eamonn Gilmore was giving the electorate a “clip around the ear” for having the audacity to reject the Oireachtas Referendum. His attitude seemed to be, “now that the referendum is rejected there can be no enquiry into banking practices etc.”

Electorate’s clip on the ear

That is nonsense. If the referendum is put to the people with clear wording stating that a person does have recourse to the courts following an investigation, and if a comprehensive debate clarifies what conditions need to be in place before investigators can enter a person’s home to remove possible evidence and also discussing the implications and meaning of issues being “in the public interest”, then I feel a second run at the referendum would be successful.

This “my way or the highway” is disrespectful of the electorate.
