Higgins’s victory an opportunity to restore pride

Someone genuinely Irish to congratulate.

One thing, though — no matter who the candidate, didn’t they all appear to talk about restoring pride in being Irish?

But here’s a thing: while Ireland and the Irish have had something to be embarrassed about, we’re not all responsible.

Let’s be mindful that what it is to be Irish is far from just the mismanagement of a property bubble.

I know — and we all know — we amount to more than that. The vast majority of us didn’t undertake the mismanagement.

Michael D is right. The time that is in it presents an opportunity to remind ourselves of who we are, what it means to be Irish and to be creative, inspirational and fine.

Remember what you feel it means to be Irish.
