Focus on the present

IT seems some in the media can’t help themselves when it comes to interviewing the presidential candidate Martin McGuinness.

Focus on the present

With any luck, we might yet get to hear about his views on the presidency and what he would do if elected. One morning the main line of questioning put to him on radio was in relation to the wording of the oath he took when he became a member of the IRA 40 years ago. It was no surprise to me that McGuinness couldn’t remember the wording. I joined the Irish Army in 1975 and swore an oath as one of the first acts to becoming a soldier.

Today, I could not remember a single line of that oath.
