Pointless destruction

A WAVE of self-righteous indignation has been unleashed in response to the attempts by a woman to prevent the ESB from cutting trees on her land to install a pylon for the North-South electricity interconnector.

Pointless destruction

Cross-border interconnectors with Britain are essential for Ireland to sell wind-generated energy to the UK and to buy nuclear energy from them.

This will help reduce fossil fuel imports and reduce C02 emissions.

Millions of trees are cut down to widen tens of thousands of kilometres of roadways in a pointless environmentally destructive obsession that will only generate more traffic, increase oil imports, and generate more CO2.

And no one has a word to say.
