Backing McGuinness

SINCE Martin McGuinness announced his intention to run for the Áras he has been hounded night and day by the media.

His crime, it seems was to be a member of the IRA. He’s been asked the most stupid questions, such as: “Did you shoot anyone?” or “Did you own a gun?”

What went on in Northern Ireland was nothing short of war between Catholics and Protestants.

Many lives were lost over a 30-year period. Martin McGuinness was living in a war zone and as the saying goes, “when in Rome, do as the Romans do”.

The IRA gave up its arms. They came to the peace table and sat with Paisley and co. That was the way forward. I don’t support any political party, but reserve the right to give credit where it’s due. McGuinness will get my vote.
