Kenny’s impressive stance

HOW incredibly impressive to read Enda Kenny’s damning declarative statement on the Catholic Church’s Cloyne conspiracy.

His annihilation of the ambivalence demonstrated to date by his procrastinating predecessors on the issue of systemic sexual abuse by Catholic priests and bishops in Ireland is indeed laudatory. I feel compelled to congratulate Kenny on his issuing such a strikingly scathing statement — one that has reverberated around the world, and that should sound a death kell to the “Christ and Caesar hand in glove” mentality (as Joyce so aptly observed) that has dominated the Republic since its inception.
