Birth remark insulting

YOUR editorial (Sept 17) criticises Sinn Féin for putting Martin McGuinness forward as a candidate for the Presidency saying “even at that, they could not find someone born in this republic”.

Apart from the insult to our Northern brethren, you forget that David Norris was not born on any part of this island. He was born in Leopoldville in the former Belgian Congo.
