Evening start to hurling final puts fans at risk

I WAS looking forward to the U21 All-Ireland Hurling final today. I was going to bring my daughter, but then I heard it has a 7.30pm start.

Evening start to hurling final puts fans at risk

It’s dark now at around 8.30 and the weather is very bad and they plan to play under lights.

Why, what’s the point? I spoke to many other Galway supporters in the last few days and they also won’t go because of late start. Also, it will be dark when people come out of the match in Thurles and cars could be parked up to a mile away. This is very dangerous.

The GAA has gone very health and safety mad since they made every hurler wear a helmet and face guard and put up the glass wall on Hill 16, yet they don’t care about thousands of supporters coming out of Thurles on Sat night after 9pm in the dark. For health and safety reasons, I can’t go to the match with my daughter.
