Town will still thrive

I HAVE never read so many patronising and sometimes uninformed articles about the effects of the forthcoming demise of Bank of America in Carrick-on-Shannon from a mainly Dublin-based national media.

The people of Carrick are industrious, creative and resilient and will continue to innovate and thrive. Whether one is on business, the arts or holiday, the town and its environs will have a genuine warm welcome for all. In 2013 Carrick-on-Shannon is celebrating the 400th anniversary of its charter, so please put that in your electronic calendars.
