Version of events at school fills me with anger

I AM disgusted with Philip Egan’s attempt in last Thursday’s Examiner (August 4) to make little, or say it was the “times we lived in” regarding what happened at Carrignavar.

Fr MacCarthaigh’s teaching methods were not ‘severe’ — they were ‘brutal’. I remember so many disgusting things he did in the class room to me and to other kids.

Egan also stated how he (Dinny) brought a sense of focus and commitment to the training ground.

In our final year we were going for Cork College final and he would punch kids if they missed a goal or point.

He actually knocked out a kid from west Cork one day with a fist to the head. Commitment and focus? I’m shaking with anger.
