NO one can help but applaud Enda Kenny’s speech to the Dail stating so clearly the proper position of the Catholic Church in relation to the civic power within our state.

Handsomely said as it was, it must be remembered that handsome is as handsome does.

Tom Paine, that fierce 18th century revolutionary, said: “As to religion, I hold it to be the indispensable duty of government to protect all conscientious professors thereof, and I know of no other business which government has to do therewith.”
