Kenny should now take on the banking elite

ENDA Kenny has shown himself to be red of tooth and claw in his tirade against the Church and its “dysfunctional elite”.

Can we now expect that he will also round as robustly on the so far unaccountable “dysfunctional elite” of the banking sector? Can we expect he will finally take by the throat the cosseted and overpaid elite in our society and bring to book with the same ferocity those public officials who allowed the abuse of children to continue over many years in places like Galway, Sligo and Roscommon?

It is one thing to bludgeon a dead sheep which is what the Catholic Church now is in terms of political clout and influence and gain easily won plaudits by pandering to popular outrage. It is quite another and the real test of leadership to level with those who still have some teeth left as they shamelessly promote self-interest and disregard the public good.
