Try some humble pie

MINSTER Joan Burton’s synopsis that living on the dole has become a lifestyle choice smacks of the usual blind assumptions that the well-heeled in society often make.

If the minister would like to do some research, why doesn’t she spend a month living on a state hand out, and then report her experiences back to her pampered colleagues in Leinster House? Why not make all of them live the “good life” on the dole for a month? I think they would soon be singing from a different hymn sheet thereafter. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Why don’t they dine à la Aldi, and try a piece of humble pie?
