Wrong spectacle

I THOROUGHLY agree with Michael Mernagh in his criticism of the fact that ‘too many fouls’ spoil Gaelic football as a spectacle and fill the hospitals with injured athletes.

Wrong spectacle

His recommendation to the GAA that it ‘abolish both the tackle and the solo run completely’ so that the player immediately get rid of the ball is eminently sensible. It would revolutionise Gaelic football and would develop ‘the inherent skills of the game’.
