Ireland has no holy ground to look back to

THE biggest problem facing Irish leaders as they attempt to bring the country out of this economic disaster, is that there is really no holy ground to look to.

Ireland has no holy ground to look back to

Prior to the “Celtic Tiger” Ireland was in a far worse economic mess than this current predicament but, of course, we have all gotten too grand in ourselves to remember a time when we really had nothing.

America, has its utopian 1950s to look back on (a bit too far back I suppose) England, while never perfect, have the Margaret Thatcher era to boost their damaged pride towards redeeming their sunken image.

Germany and France are just pretending that they are financially badly off — just so that they won’t have to be illiciting more one-way-handouts.

Ireland really has nothing to go back to.

It’s not in a forward direction that any country caught up in this crisis is headed in right now.

To remedy this western nations disaster, we must all back up to where we must honestly accept the root of our troubles began.

I guess them there apples is too sour for eatin’.
