Our proud military tradition

HAVING spent almost 32 years working (as a civilian) with United Nations Military peacekeeping operations, I am extremely pleased to see the return of Irish military personnel to UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon).

Our proud military tradition

Irish Military Personnel have shown themselves to be extremely professional and popular, in the exercise of their peacekeeping duties. In addition, they have in many areas engaged in charitable and philanthropic operations (ie assisting hospitals, schools and orphanages).

These actions have not only endeared the Irish to the local population but also enhanced the reputation of the Irish people and our country. Irish military personnel have proven to be exceptional ambassadors of Ireland, wherever they have served.
