Exhibition an insult to all Christians
It was sad to hear two elderly people, Alan Stanford and Nell McCafferty attempting to defend the blasphemous art exhibition of the “Mother of God” in UCC, Cork.
We can be guaranteed if this exhibition was depicting art which was insulting to the mother of Buddha or the mother of Muhammed, Cork University and the pluralism/equality brigade would be up in arms, saying no one should be offending other people’s beliefs.
I think students who attend this college and have devotion to the Virgin Mary should quit UCC and attend another university in protest at such lack of respect for people’s beliefs.
Why don’t Catholics, other Christians and Muslims who have devotion and respect for the Virgin Mary stand up and defend what they believe in?
One of the reasons the well-renowned Irish martyrs died for Ireland was so we could embrace our faith without any persecution, visual, verbal or physical.
They will have died in vain if people sit back and accept this pathetic display.
