We still don’t know what atheism stands for

ONE has to hand it to RTÉ for giving the nation a much needed humorous lift in the guise of the recent lunchtime news interview with Richard Dawkins and sponsored by our friends at Atheist Ireland — God bless them.

The interview itself was beyond parody, rather like a belated April Fool’s joke. We learned little or nothing about what atheism stands for.

Hard questions were scrupulously avoided — the 20th century history has already given the game away in terms of gulags, death camps and killing fields.
