My Presidential vote for Quinn
What now beggars belief is that it is this new administration led by Enda Kenny and Michael Noonan who are prepared to carry it out.
How dare Noonan ridicule Seán Quinn’s efforts and attempt to save his businesses. I would suggest to Mr Noonan that the Irish taxpayer has a far greater chance of recouping the €2.5 billion it is now owed by supporting the Quinn proposal, than by allowing Anglo Irish Bank and Liberty Mutual to take it over. Quinn’s payback period may be over 10 or more years, but he has always proven to be a man of his word and the shame on this Government is they lack the courage and integrity to give this man his due, and the opportunity to put matters right.
We now appear to have replaced a government of corruption with a totally gutless one who continue to endorse and enable those in control to continue to call all the shots. The disposal of the country’s assets, the takeover of the credit unions, the outrageous pay levels to the top 10%, are proof that nothing new, original, or courageous will come from this administration.
I would suggest that the people of Cavan organise a presidential nomination for Seán Quinn and let every citizen who believes they have been shafted over the past decade by those in power show their anger by supporting the ‘Seán Quinn for President’ campaign.
How good would it be to have a real person in the Park for a change, not a token shoe-in. A man who would not be beholden to any political party. A man of stature who believed in what he was trying to do would only benefit a great deal of people looking for a better life in a better country that he had helped create over the previous years. He will get my vote, make sure he gets yours.
