Stop silly seals ban

AS has been my custom for several years I take large numbers of tourists to visit Howth Harbour and cliffs.
Stop silly seals ban

After exiting the DART the children and their teachers purchase an ice cream, they then walk to the lighthouse and then to the cliffs. They get free surplus fish from one of the fish shops and feed the seals.

Recently the visitors from Spain were unable to feed the seals because the Howth Harbour Master has posted a sign on the wall stating anybody feeding them will be fined €5,000. The reasons given were: The seals are getting too fat and some child may fall in the water and drown. Half the fun has been taken out of the tourists’ visit to Howth by some bureaucrat. If this ordinance is not changed, I intend to feed the seals and accept the punishment of the State.
