I ENJOY doing the census. Dare I use the word fun to describe a task, which some do see as a deep invasion of privacy with 34 questions in this one.

Taking vital stock of ourselves

We are reassured it is confidential and will be used by the Central Statistic Office (CSO) in Cork to compile analyses and information on our country in 2011, to help with planning for future needs.

It will give an overview of the entire population. It will be a fascinating picture to future generations, as I suspect it could be online in 100 years time. Perhaps, the next census could have an “opt-box” for those who don’t want to be included in this.
