A good allegory

NEIL PRENDEVILLE’S “forgiveness” (March 26) is quite a good allegory for the banking crisis.

An institution is propped up when it is morally bankrupt in a forlorn hope for a return to the good old days.

We need to clear the dead wood — not just “carry on”, forget and endure.
