HOW dare Alan Shatter chide us for criticising the judiciary.

Judges are fallible people like the rest of us.

As citizens we have an absolute right to scrutinise, criticise and even ridicule any body or person in a position of power lest they lose the run of themselves. Given the horrors of the Catholic Church child sex abuse scandal, we should be particularly aware of the dangers of giving uncritical deference to a powerful elite.
