Change town’s name

WITH the forthcoming visit of Queen Elizabeth I wonder if the time is not opportune for the town of Cobh to add its older name Queenstown to the town’s official name.

When this name was changed during the struggle for independence it was seen as a victory by a majority, but we should not forget that for a minority within this state, and a larger minority on this island, it was an ill omen.

In addition, in these difficult economic times I think that there are good commercial reasons for Cobh to reclaim the name Queenstown and include it in its tourism brand.
