Help us pass the post to economic recovery
Even faced with a horrific winter, with resultant obvious training difficulties, and horrendous economic constraints, this industry has shown just how resilient people who work in this industry are.
They have been a source of Irish pride on English soil.
They clearly demonstrate what it is to be Irish.
They deserve our warmest congratulations.
Moreover this industry — which is so important to the rural economy-needs tangible supports.
Our new Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Leo Varadkar, said the Government was working on a number of measures to restore employment in the tourism industry and to promote it. He needs to do the same for the equestrian industry.
Ireland is a centre of excellence for producing the finest bloodstock.
If the correct initiatives are taken now, then Ireland will be first past the post in the race towards economic recovery.
