JAMES GLEESON (March 15) should think again about giving a tumultuous “cead mile fáilte” to the visits of dignitaries as he puts it. A rogues gallery would be more appropriate.

We have the queen of a empire currently occupying part of out country, the president of the American empire who runs a torture centre in Cuba and who is currently waging two horrific wars, and Pope Benedict, the head of a religious empire that has abused, tortured and killed countless Irish men, women and children, to say nothing of countless others around the world.
