New Dáil politicians fail to dress to impress

IF it wasn’t enough that Brian Cowen made a disgrace of us for the last three years whilst representing the country internationally, now the eyes of the world can see how utterly unprofessional and slovenly Irish politicians remain with the way a number of our new Dáil deputies are choosing to present themselves in their role as public representatives.

New Dáil politicians fail to dress to impress

Garish casual pink shirts, black jeans, pseudo military garb and flat caps from gombeen central casting are just some of the eyesores on conspicuous display. This is a totally disrespectful attitude to the dignity conferred by the holding of high office and, once again, makes Ireland a laughing stock.

I know I will be accused of being old-fashioned and out of touch but I don’t think there is anything old-fashioned about striving for better standards and professionalism.
