Fluoride fears

GERALD DUFFY does not provide a convincing rebuttal to Michael Dorgan’s concerns about water fluoridation (March 9). Making claims like “this is a widely accepted fact” and quoting sources in the US government will not convince the discerning reader.

Fluoride fears

However, Mr Duffy might be interested to know that sodium fluoride is an active ingredient in some insecticides but was withheld from use because of plant injury and danger to animals.

I would also challenge Mr Duffy to cite a single peer-reviewed dentistry journal paper that provides empirical quantitative evidence that fluoride is beneficial to teeth. As far as I am aware, there are no such studies.
