At least FF is gone

I SHARE Catriona McClean’s distrust of a coalition between FG and Labour (March 5).

I would far prefer to see FG have the courage of its convictions to form a minority government, with the tacit support of FF and like-minded independents. Labour is far too close to the unions for anyone to believe they have the stomach for real reform.

However, I do not agree with Ms McClean’s conclusion that the prospect of such a coalition makes the election a “farce,” as it was never explicitly ruled out by either party.

I’m sure Ms McClean will agree that the relief of removing the arrogance and the utter incompetence that was FF in office far outweighs any concerns about the shape of the next government.
