A waste of money

AT a time when our misfortunes are denominated in billions it may seem of little importance to consider the waste of a few million.

However, the way in which the money is being thrown away is so outrageous that the process involved should be considered by the incoming government.

The Energy Regulator has decreed that An Bord Gais and the ESB should be “rebranded”. The cost, in the case of the ESB, is estimated to be between €6m and €8m. And Bord Gais estimate that the cost of rebranding both utilities lies between €40m and €80m. What will this farce contribute to the reduction of the price of electricity or gas?
