IN the professional aviation world, it is a widely held view that following any type of serious crash the passengers must evacuate the aircraft within 90 seconds.

Quick action saved lives

After 100/120 seconds there is a high risk of the cabin becoming engulfed in flames and smoke.

I salute all the emergency personnel involved in the Manx2 crash at Cork Airport for their bravery and professionalism, but I must applaud the tremendous action by the Airport Fire Service and question if anyone would have survived this incident if not for their rapid response.
