Drink driving laws are saving lives

IN a recent editorial (Jan 28) you rightly highlight the need for community action against suicide.

But you wrongly attribute “some of these deaths” by suicide to “our new puritanism surrounding even the most restrained cases of drinking and driving”.

It’s not puritanical but purely logical to record the fact that some people kill themselves and/or others by drinking and driving, and also that people have serious injuries which are lifelong-disabling, owing to drinking and driving.
