He suggests that the Irish VAT rate for retail is 13.5%, when it is the higher 21% rate in fact. This hardly inspires confidence in someone who aspires to be part of Ireland’s next government.

This gaff lends further weight to the argument that any government needs to have experts in their professional fields at ministerial level.
