Our goose is cooked

THE eggs were not golden.

Everyone knows that now, but some knew that all along.

The bird did not recognise that the eggs were gilded and both she and her partner allowed for an over-abundance without choosing as carefully as the cuckoo does, exactly whose nests they would be nurtured in.

One small point of interest — we’re killing an ostrich, not a goose.
